Take Control: Balance Your Health and Life with Bullet Journaling

If you’ve taking a look at our continuing education calendar, you may know that we often present classes and workshops that are open to the general public, not just bodywork students or practitioners. This November we’ve got a NEW class – Bullet Journaling: Creativity, Balance, and Wellness.

What Is Bullet Journaling? Can It Help You Gain Control of Your Life?

Let’s address the second question first. If you feel like your life is out of control, if you feel pulled in a gazillion directions at once, if you feel like the demands on your mind, body, and emotions are overwhelming you, bullet journaling could be just what you need to achieve organization, balance, and peace. It’s a technique that anyone can benefit from, and it’s not difficult.

You may already be familiar with journaling, which in its simplest form is keeping a diary. If you look at history, most successful people have kept journals, recording their activities, thoughts, aspirations, introspections, and plans.  Some today keep food diaries to gain insight into food allergies or weight management. Others may keep journals as a part of psychotherapy. But bullet journaling is designed to do many things. Think of a notebook that is multi-functional: a sketchbook, a to-do-list, a permanent record, a diary, a statement of goals.

Bullet journaling can be all this and more.

Plus it’s a fantastic outlet for creativity, and it can be customized to your unique ways of expression and to create an organizational system that will work for you. In this digital age, it can be comforting and satisfying to have a paper notebook in front of you, where you can put pen or pencil to paper. It’s your chance to let your inner creative spirit out without fear of criticism. It’s your journal after all, and it’s meant for your eyes only. (Although if you choose to share it with someone else, that’s up to you.)

Go ahead – doodle, change pen colors to differentiate the various compartments of your life. Experiment with unique fonts. Have fun!

This class is open to anyone who feels like they need an easy tool to take control of their life and get organized. All you need is a notebook, a handful of colored pens, and a ruler or other straightedge. There are notebooks you can purchase that have been specifically designed to be used as a bullet journal, although any sturdy bound notebook or journal will do.
