The source of this information is the International SPA Association’s (ISPA) recently released 2010 U.S. Spa Industry Study. Spa Locations - there were 20,600 spa locations in 2009, up from 5,700 in 1999.
Visits - there were 143 million spa visits in 2009, up from 90.7 million in 1999.
Revenue – there were $12.3 billion dollars of revenue in 2009, more than double the amount in 1999, which was $5 billion.
Employees - as May 2010, there were 332,000 total employees, compared to over a decade ago when there were 151,000 employee in 1999.
