Open up Possibilities. Lymph Drainage Massage Training: Each Monday, April 30 – August 13, 2012 • 6 – 9 pm

Learn Lymphatic Drainage Massage over a series of Mondays. Each Monday builds on the next until you have a total approach to the lymphatic system.

This hands on training will cover lymphatic drainage massage. It is known for its light-touch manual approach that moves excess lymphatic fluid (edema), which often represents itself as swelling, through gentle, repetitive, slow movements that improve congestive conditions. Lymph drainage massage brings the edema to an area in the body where the fluid can drain back into the body and be processed.

Dr. Emil Vodder, a Danish massage therapist and his wife Estrid, developed it in the 1930’s. Lymphatic massage has been shown to have significant therapeutic benefits for many types of clients, including those who have had recent surgery, soft tissue injury, cancer survivors, stress and tension, “traveler’s edema” and others. This course begins with a detailed study of the lymphatic system. We’ll also discuss and discover the concepts of lymphatic massage, including watersheds, assessment, indications & contraindications, and directions of movement. You will learn and practice the basic hand techniques of Lymph Drainage and how these techniques are applied to different areas of the body.

Participants enrolling in this advanced bodywork training must have completed 120 hours of bodywork technique instruction and 90 hours of human anatomy and physiology. Knowledge of Swedish massage strokes, draping, lubricants, and body mechanics are assumed.

Please bring two twin-size sheets, one pillowcase, and a bath towel.

Lymph Drainage Massage  has many benefits; it helps clients with edema, acne and other skin conditions, stress reduction, deep relaxation, and bruising. It can help with healing, sinus congestion, arthritic pain, water retention, and cellulite.
