New This Fall: Continuing Ed Courses at Our Minneapolis Massage School

04 Aug 2017

One of the things we enjoy as we put together our continuing education calendar for each term is to evaluate the need and interest and then add new courses to meet them. This coming term (Fall 2017) we have a number of new classes, in addition to those that are regular favorites. And what’s more, some of these are open to the general public. These new courses include:

Five-Element Qigong – multiple sessions, beginning September 13th.  We’ve offered classes on qigong in the past, but this one takes it up a notch. You’ll get to explore and practice the exercises related to each of the give elements and you’ll come away with a handbook to help you continue in your personal practice. This class is open to all, so bring a friend!

Traditional Chinese Medicine 101 – get the basics of Traditional Chinese Medicine in just a half day! Of course, we go into greater detail with students in our programs that include TCM, but if you’ve been wanting to learn just a little bit about this centuries old holistic health care approach, this is the workshop for you. Also open to the general public.

Pain in the Neck: Text Neck, Migraines, & Whiplash…Oh My! – for massage therapists and current students. Neck pain is one of the most common reasons people seek out massage therapy. Neck pain has a variety of causes, and we’ll address these three specifics in this class. In addition to learning the basics behind neck pain and the techniques to address it, you’ll also learn some basic stretches and self-care techniques.

On the Spot – Essential Oils for Mood Shifting – also open to the public. Nature has gifts to give us that can promote our mental and emotional well being through the use of essential oils. This one-day class is your chance to experiment and explore the world of essential oils and discover for yourself which ones might work for you.

Foam Roller Boot Camp – take your self-care to the next routine, whether you’re new to foam rollers or an experienced user. Foam rollers are a great way to practice self myofascial release. Through proper use you may find increased mobility and strength. They are also beneficial for strengthening and can shorten recovery time. This class is also open to all!

Introduction to Lymph Drainage Massage – for current students or graduates of a therapeutic bodywork program, as well estheticians and other allied health care professionals. Scientific research has demonstrated the effectiveness of lymph drainage massage, and this is one technique that not many professional bodyworkers have yet added to their skills. Lymph drainage massage can be an effective way to relieve edema as well as boost the immune system.
