Our Minneapolis Massage School Faculty Gets National Recognition

01 Aug 2014

At CenterPoint we know that our faculty and staff members are absolutely the best at what they do. And we know that our students and grads continue to benefit from the excellence our team strives to deliver in every aspect of our Minneapolis massage school and clinic. But it’s noteworthy when one of our own grabs national attention.

If you follow us on Facebook, you may have noticed we recently shared a link from the July issue of Massage Magazine, featuring our instructor and clinic supervisor, Theresa May (NCTMB, APP). Theresa – a Minnesota native now living in Minneapolis – comes to us from Arizona, where she trained and later became a teacher and administrator at the Southwest Institute of Healing Arts.

07jul30a1a14edTheresa’s career as a bodywork therapist arose out of the compassion she felt at a young age, caring for her terminally-ill grandmother at the end of her life. While Theresa’s areas of bodywork expertise are diverse, including aromatherapy and other spa techniques, prenatal massage, and lymph drainage massage, her special focus is on supportive care for those suffering from debilitating and terminal conditions such as Parkinson’s disease and cancer. As a result – in addition to her responsibilities at CenterPoint – Theresa has worked to develop protocols for providing massage therapy for these patients and works with Hospice of the Twin Cities in training and supervising massage therapy volunteers as well as providing hospice therapy services herself.

Even though working with those at life’s end may be challenging, Theresa has drawn inspiration from her work with hospice patients. She says, “I have a greater appreciation and gratitude for the small beauties that happen in our lives daily.”

If you’re a bodywork therapist who – like Theresa – have compassion for those suffering from debilitating illnesses, you may want to consider enrolling in our upcoming November continuing education seminar, Special Populations: Cancer Patients and Survivors. At CenterPoint we’re proud to provide excellent training in a wide variety of bodywork therapies, including those designed to ease the suffering of the terminally ill.

Theresa, we salute you for your work and for what an asset you are to our MN bodywork school as both an instructor and member of our Advisory Board.

At CenterPoint we’re proud to provide excellent training in a wide variety of bodywork therapies, (including those designed to ease the suffering of the terminally ill) through our three massage and shiatsu diploma programs as well as our continuing education courses.

If you’re a bodywork therapist who – like Theresa – has compassion for those suffering from debilitating illnesses, you may want to consider enrolling in our upcoming November continuing education seminar, Special Populations: Cancer Patients and Survivors.  Check out the link for details and registration information, but act soon because these classes are very popular and fill up quickly.
