Join Us For Some Refreshing Bodywork: Yin Restorative Yoga

30 Jan 2015

After the hectic pace of the holidays and dealing with the deep freeze that is Minneapolis in the winter, why not take some time to get refreshed, recharged, and re-grounded?  We’ve got just the prescription for you – Yin Restorative Yoga.

  • Are you tired?
  • Has the pace of life got you over-stimulated?
  • Do your energy levels spike and fade away quickly?
  • Have you got too much energy and don’t know how to channel it?

If you’ve answered ‘Yes’ to any of these questions, then it’s time to sign up for our Yin Restorative Yoga class.

What Is Yin Yoga?

01jan16b2a15Rooted in the Eastern philosophy of yin and yang, or natural complements, Yin Yoga combines influences of Eastern yoga and Daoist principles with Western science to produce an extremely restorative and refreshing bodywork session.

Today’s lifestyle means plenty of stimulation for people – cellphones, tablets, information and entertainment almost 24/7.  Active exercise and other forms of yoga may give you the healthy workout your body craves, but  that’s still an energy ramp-up and stimulation.  Yin Yoga differs in that it allows you to slow down and give your mind some relaxation.  Poses are held for longer periods – up to 5 minutes.  Rather than focusing on muscles, its targets are the deeper parts of your body – connective tissues, joints, ligaments, organs.  The result is an improvement in the flow of qi, that vital and subtle energy your body and your mind need to function at their best.

If you’re ready to relax and let your mind go, join us every Tuesday afternoon between March 3rd and April 21st.  Sessions run from 12:10 p.m.-12:50 p.m. so you can even fit it in over your lunch hour!  All are welcome, and the registration fee is only $70.  Why not combat the midwinter blues with a bodywork session that will leave you feeling refreshed and grounded?  For registration information and details, click here

At our Minneapolis massage school we offer a wide range of continuing education courses.  Though most of our classes are designed for bodywork professionals such as massage or shiatsu therapists, we often present classes such as these that are open to the general public.  Who knows, after getting a taste of what Eastern bodywork can do for you, you may be interested in pursuing a career as a bodywork therapist!  We offer three different diploma programs.  For more information, visit our Prospective Students page
