CenterPoint’s Shiatsu Therapy program teaches two complete systems of Asian Bodywork Therapy: Namikoshi Shiatsu and Shiatsu Anma with additional application techniques. If you find yourself drawn to the beauty and philosophies of Japan and China and intrigued by a 2,500 year-old system of natural healing then Shiatsu may be right for you!

What is Shiatsu?

Shiatsu is therapeutic bodywork from Japan based on principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine combined with modern anatomy and physiology. It is one of the main modalities within the larger profession of Asian Bodywork Therapy. Shiatsu is non-invasive, performed without oils through light, comfortable clothing, and uses soothing, kneading, pressing, tapping and stretching techniques. The nurturing touch of Shiatsu helps trigger healing.

Shiatsu therapy stimulates and harmonizes the flow of “Qi” (vital energy) throughout the body and has both preventative and therapeutic affects. The curriculum integrates the ancient arts of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) theory and assessment with the modern Western sciences, personal and professional development, and a supervised clinical experience.

It is beneficial for a wide range of internal, musculoskeletal and emotional conditions. It may be stimulating or calming depending on what is therapeutically indicated. Shiatsu therapy reduces stress and contributes to overall well being.

Upon graduation you will have:

• Gained the skill and knowledge of Asian Bodywork Therapy: Namikoshi Shiatsu and Shiatsu Anma with additional application.
• Learned a uniquely large toolbox of skills and Shiatsu techniques in our classes and school to better serve clients.

It’s your choice: Full time: 12 Months or Part time: 20 Months. The program includes: 43.5 Credit Hours – 900 Clock Hours.
