Aromatherapy and Massage: The Basics

02 Aug 2017

As the interest in natural medicine grows, many massage therapists are adding additional modalities to their skills list in order to offer their clients popular therapies. One of those is aromatherapy, or the use of essential oils in conjunction with bodywork.

Aromatherapy training is available to our students as part of our elective course, Spa & Resort Techniques. We also periodically offer instruction in basic aromatherapy as a continuing education course for bodywork professionals.

But if you haven’t yet been introduced to aromatherapy and would like to know a little bit more about it, check out this recent article from Bodysense Magazine. “Aromatherapy: The Perfect Complement to Massage,” gives a short background as well as information on the four most commonly-used essential oils.

You may find that just by adding a few drops of medical-grade essential oils to your massage sessions that your clients can gain added benefits. Plus, the therapist can enjoy them as well!

Click here to read the article. We’ve also got a number of previous blog posts that go into more detail.
