CenterPoint’s Basics Workshops

These introductory workshops are an excellent opportunity for people considering therapeutic bodywork as a career or for those who enjoy working on family and friends.

Learn simple, yet effective techniques to help relax, relieve stress and deal with common ailments. CenterPoint faculty teach all of these 6 hour workshops.

If you enroll in one of CenterPoint’s Career Training Programs within one year, $50 will be credited toward your tuition in the program that matches the workshop taken. Register early as classes fill quickly.

All instructors are CenterPoint Faculty and are nationally certified by the National Certifying Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) or the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB), and/or are active members of the American Organization of Bodywork Therapies from Asia (AOBTA), or the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA).

* Please wear loose clothing. Bring two twin sized sheets, a face towel, and a large blanket or towel for warmth. Massage lotion will be provided.

Learn a variety of basic massage techniques for the head, neck, back, arms and legs emphasizing continuity, completeness and confidence. Great for stress reduction, relaxation, and improved circulation.

For those who wish to practice natural healing at home with family, friends and self, Shiatsu Basics provides an ideal introduction. Participants learn simple yet effective finger pressure techniques to relieve and prevent chronic aches & pains and everyday ailments. Basic theories of Traditional Chinese Medicine (Qi, Yin/Yang, and Eight Principles) are taught to facilitate understanding of how and why Shiatsu works.

Learn basic Shiatsu techniques for the neck, back, abdomen, legs and feet. Discover how simple and effective Shiatsu therapy is for relieving headaches, backaches, stiff necks, fatigue, indigestion and menstrual discomfort. Experience giving and receiving Shiatsu, and Self-Shiatsu for self-care.

This American Heart Association Heartsaver CPR course teaches basic life support techniques to use on adults. The class consists of demonstration and class participation to learn the techniques.

Course policies: Attendees must obtain and read the text prior to the class, and be prepared to pass the written exam with a minimum score of 84%.

CenterPoint faculty teaching these workshops have completed the American Heart Association’s Instructors First Aid/CPR training.
